Buddhism Circuit Tour

  • 16 Days

Nepal is a wonderful destination for you if you are curious about Buddhism and its teachings. There are tons of Buddhist pilgrims in Nepal besides the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, Lumbini. You can also explore a different form of Buddhism in Nepal.

The monasteries, the stupas, Vihars made in the traditional Nepalese Style, and the meditation caves, you can explore all of them here in Nepal. The best part of all these pilgrims is that you can explore more than a pilgrim in a particular destination.

Itinéraire du Trek

As per your flight schedule, we will come to welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport. From there, we will drop you at your hotel and let you rest. Later, in the evening, we will again meet for a welcome dinner. With dinner, we will briefly discuss the tour itinerary and the customization that needs to be done. We will again drop you at the hotel for the night.

Today, we will pick you up at the hotel and go to Budhanilkantha temple. It is one of the ancient temples of the Kathmandu valley that has a lot of religious and cultural significance. However, this place is significant for Buddhism too. After that, we will go back to the hotel, have breakfast and move toward Patan, an ancient city in Nepal. You can see a blend of both Hinduism and Buddhism over here. We will then drop you at the hotel for a night’s stay in Kathmandu.

This is the very first day of the Buddhism Circuit Tour. Thus, we will take a slow but beautiful start. Today, we will first visit Swyambhunath Stupa. A beautiful story has bound this stupa and the history of the Kathmandu valley. You will know the importance of the Swyambhunath stupa while visiting there.

From there, we will go to Baudhanath stupa, the biggest stupa in Asia. It has also an interesting story to tell. Nearby, there are some renowned monasteries, thus, you will visit them. Following that, you will learn about the significance of the Thanka Paintings.

Today, you will travel toward one of the four holiest lands of the Buddhism pilgrimage of the world. It is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautam, Lumbini. It will take around 8-9 hours to reach Lumbini from Kathmandu.

We would visit Ramagrama Stupa first, though, before getting there. This stupa is the only one that makes the claim to contain Lord Buddha’s relics.

There is no real stupa architecture there, but a small dome-shaped structure is revered as the Ramagrama Stupa. You will spend your night at Lumbini.

By Lumbini Exploration, we imply visiting practically all of Lumbini’s key locations. It contains the archeological sites of Tilaurakot (the remnants of Kapilvastu’s palace), the Kapilvastu Museum, and Kudan (a place where Lord Buddha is said to have stayed after returning to Lumbini).

We’ll head to the Mayadevi temple after we’ve seen everything else. There, you will visit Siddhartha Gautam’s actual birthplace, the Mayadevi pond, the Bodhi tree, the Ashoka Pillar, and the ruins of ancient monasteries. You can spend the evening there.

Today you will take a leisurely stroll to Lumbini’s monasteries. But first, you will take part in a birdwatching activity. Following the World Peace Pagoda lies the Lumbini Crane Sanctuary. There, you can spend some quality time analyzing Crane’s activities (Sarus).

There are numerous monasteries built by various nationalities in the Lumbini Development Zone. As a result, you might investigate the architectural traits of these countries in those monasteries. Exploring all of those monasteries may take an entire day. If you don’t feel like walking, you can ride a rickshaw. Lumbini Museum is located at the further end of the monasteries. You can also investigate it. You will return to the hotel in the evening for a night’s stay.

Today we will head toward Pokhara, It is a beautiful city blessed with nature as well as culture. Since it is the gateway to Muktinath, you will stop there for a night stay.

Today you will visit the World peace pagoda stupa before leaving for Muktinath. It is also called a twin stupa since you can see the same stupa in Lumbini as well, made by the same personality. You will spend your night at Muktinath after reaching over there. On your way, you will explore the monastery at Marpha village.

Today, you will explore Muktinath temple premises. The temple however is not only holy for Hindus but is equally important for Buddhists too. There is even a statue of Mahamanjushree in the Muktinath area. After exploring the site, you will return to Pokhara for another night’s stay.

Today you will return to Kathmandu and have some rest. Or else, you can explore nearby monasteries surrounding Swyambhunath Stupa.

Pharping is one of the most popular destinations for doing meditations. People visit the destination to see the sacred place where Padmasambhava did meditation. It is a good place for a meditation retreat. There are several monasteries too which you can explore while roaming around. You can choose to stay overnight or, return to Kathmandu city.

On this day, you will travel to Halesi. It will take around 6-7 hours to reach Halesi from Kathmandu. Thus, you can choose to travel to explore Maratika cave on the very same day, or, you could choose to go the next day.

This is a free day. You can fully explore the Maratika caves on this day. You can also do some meditation while exploring the caves. Later, you will return to the hotel for a night’s stay.

Today, you will be returning back to Kathmandu from Halesi. You will spend your night at Dhulikhel.

Today, you will make your way toward Namo Budhha, after taking breakfast. Namo Budhha is considered one of the holiest places in Buddhism. You will find more interesting stories about Buddhism on the spot. After the sightseeing, you will head toward Kathmandu city and spend your night at Kathmandu.

Today, you will leave Nepal, thus, we will drop you off at the airport as per your flight schedule.
